Too many elements filled with too much stuff made this foyer a less-than-perfect introduction to an otherwise cool New York City home. The old bookshelves were overflowing and disorganized, the console table was crammed with decorative items, and the black flowered rug felt dated and out of place.
This one-day redo was really more about a new attitude than a huge budget. Some cleaning up, some cans of paint, and a few key accessories were all it took to transform the space.

Take one look at this bedroom’s “before” photo and you can see why it’s desperate for a makeover: tired florals, washed-out whites and too much brown. To make the existing turquoise walls really pop, I went with a black-and-white color scheme, which I carried throughout the room, down to the smallest frame and pillow. I wanted the heart of the room—the bed—to be the visual focus, so I chose my funky Ty Pennington Style Swirl bedding. This room’s remedy lies in the coordination of bolder, themed accessories and the elimination of clutter.
